The Trojan Horse

Here is a few pics of my first models for the final assignment.

Ive adopted the 'tip of the iceberg' theme for this submission to fit in with the whole 'Trojan Horse' disguise motif.

Ive been playing around with having a fairly large portion of the dwelling set below the st level with a large glazed/concrete portion protruding into the void above. This idea also fits well with my initial character design of the snake keeper in that I developed him into a reclusive person who chooses to keep the surrounding world at arms length. In this dwelling he could retire underground to hide away, or move up into the 'tower' with in glazed on 3 sides to give him a 'protected' view of the surrounding neighbourhood.

More to come.......

Do-over

I wish I had found this sketch-up plug in BEFORE my last hand in! Oh well.

Final Hand Up

Well here it is. Not realy all that happy with it but im happy enough.

I was very unclear if we were to incorporate multiple different designs or just the one. So I eventually ended up combining elements of all of my designs into one home and then arranging them on the site appropriately.

They were positioned to centralise the courtyards and to protect them from the outside world. The inhabitants of each home could easily interact with one another if the so desired, but they could also retreat inside if they wished.

I think the overall form of the snake scales/skin comes thru enough without being to obvious or cliche. I was most happy with Northern elevation. I think it has alot of impact and bold form.

Evolution

Form

I used these images as inspiration for the basic strcuture of the building. The overlapping and connections between the individual scales was interesting to me and this form has evolved and changed over various stages thru my project.
